    What is a slurry pump?

A slurry pump is an industrial pump designed to pump liquids that contain solid particles. The design and structure of slurry pumps vary to accommodate different types of slurries, which can have varying solid concentrations, particle sizes, particle shapes, and solution compositions.

What is the difference between a slurry pump and a mud pump?

The main difference is their applications. Slurry pumps are primarily used in industries such as metallurgy, power generation, mining, and coal to transport slurries containing solid particles. Mud pumps are mainly used in industries such as drilling, pharmaceuticals, brewing, and papermaking to transport suspended mud slurries.

What are the functions or principles of your products?

Centrifugal pumps are driven by motors or other power sources. When the pump is started, the pump shaft drives the impeller to rotate at high speed. The liquid filled between the blades will also rotate. Under the action of centrifugal force, the liquid moves radially from the center of the impeller towards the outer periphery. As the liquid leaves the impeller and enters the pump casing, it gradually slows down due to the expanding flow passages in the casing. Part of the kinetic energy is converted into static pressure, and finally, the liquid flows tangentially into the discharge pipeline, achieving the purpose of transportation.

How should I choose the right slurry pump for my needs?

    • First, determine whether you need a horizontal or vertical slurry pump.
    • Based on the acidity or alkalinity of the slurry, select the appropriate material for the slurry pump.
    • Once the material is determined, choose the appropriate pump model. For horizontal pumps, options include the HC series slurry pump, ZJ series slurry pump, and ZGB series slurry pump. For vertical pumps, consider the HC-V series.
    • After selecting the pump model, determine the sealing method.
    • Choose a suitable pump based on the flow rate, head, and efficiency requirements, and calculate the required motor power based on the slurry density.
    • Next, determine the placement of the slurry pump and motor, which is also known as the transmission method.

What is the largest pump you can supply?

Currently, we can produce slurry pumps with a size of 20'X18' (inlet and outlet).

    +
    —
Can the slurry pump parts provided by your company be compatible with well-known brand slurry pumps? Why?

All components undergo rigorous reverse engineering using 2D and 3D modeling. First article inspection includes comparison with OEM parts followed by fitment testing. All impellers undergo performance testing to demonstrate their compliance with OEM specifications.

    —
    How are slurry pumps installed?

    Common installation methods include:

    • Wet installation: The slurry pump and driver are fully submerged in water.
    • Dry installation: The pump drive unit is located away from the slurry, typically used for industrial horizontal pumps.
    • Semi-dry installation: Used in applications such as dredging with horizontal pumps, where the drive unit is kept dry while other parts are installed in the liquid through a sealing device.

    +
    —
What are the basic components of a slurry pump?

There are six basic components of a slurry pump with multiple options: impeller, casing, drive unit, suction liner or liner, shaft seal parts, and bearing assembly. The impeller, casing, and suction liner are critical components for wet-wear life as they determine the pump's performance.

    +
    —
    What makes a good impeller?

There is no absolute ideal impeller or impeller design. Designing the right impeller for a slurry pump system depends on factors such as wear resistance, efficiency, and slurry characteristics.

    +
    —
Is it better to have more vanes for industrial pump impellers?

Most of our slurry pumps use three to five vanes, while water pumps typically have six or more.

    • Three vanes: Suitable for high-efficiency applications with medium to low head.
    • Four vanes: Suitable for medium head and flow situations, providing good stability and efficiency.
    • Five vanes: Suitable for low flow, high head applications, and situations requiring the handling of viscous fluids.
